Apple offers sales-tax free shopping spree in select U.S. states from July 16 till August 8

From July 16 till August 8, Apple is offering customers in Alabama, Missouri, South Carolina, and Virginia to purchase products without sales tax. Cupertino tech giant participates in annual ‘Sales Tax Holiday’ in select states which offer businesses and consumers the opportunity to buy sales-tax-free products to increase sales and support low-income families to purchase back-to-school devices.

In addition, the company independently offers back-to-school sales in U.S., Canada, and United Kingdom. For its back-to-school 2021 promotion, the company is offering free AirPods with the purchase of Mac and iPad models for eligible customers.

Apple Tax Free Holiday

Apple’s Tax Holiday offer is available in Alabama, Missouri, and other states

The new shopping campaign applies differently in each participating state. The data, purchase limit, and eligible products vary from state to state. Here are the eligibility criteria of four participating states.

In Alabama, the sales tax holiday period is from July 16 to 18 with a $750 price of all items including computers (Macs, iPad, iPod touch) and accessories (keyboards, mice, Apple Pencil, speakers, monitors). Uses can also purchase printers, computer storage media, diskettes, compact disks, and Apple and third-party non-recreational software.

To qualify for the sales tax holiday exemption, the purchase must be made during the sales tax holiday period. The total sales price of all exempt items cannot exceed $750, and local tax may apply. Computers and computer accessories, such as keyboards, mice, and speakers (when sold with a CPU and the total sales price does not exceed $750), qualify for this holiday

In Missouri, the sales tax holiday period is from August 6 till 8 with a $1500 price tag for all hardware and $350 for all software items. For a total of $1500, users can purchase Macs, iPad, and accessories (keyboards, mice, Apple Pencil, Apple TV, speakers, monitors, printers, routers, scanners, and more). Users can purchase Apple and third-party non-recreational software worth $350.

To qualify for the tax exemption, the purchase must be made during the sales tax holiday period by an individual for personal use. The exemption is per item purchased, and local taxes may apply. Computers and related accessories with a sales price of $1500 or less qualify for this holiday. Software with a sales price of $350 or less also qualifies for the holiday.

Apple

In South Carolina, the sales tax holiday period is from August 6 to 8. Without setting a price limit, the state has included a variety of computers and accessories in sales-tax-free purchases like Macs, all iPad models, printers, and more. But has restricted sales of few products for school use only.

To qualify for the tax exemption, the purchase must be made during the sales tax holiday period by an individual for personal use. Computers, printers, printer supplies, and computer software qualify for this holiday. AppleCare and computer accessories such as displays, keyboards, mice, and scanners are also exempt when purchased with a CPU. Accessories not sold with a CPU will remain taxable during the holiday period. Earbuds, headphones, and flash drives qualify for this holiday when purchased for school use only.

In Virginia, the sales tax holiday period is from August 6 till 8 with $60 price limit for cell iPhone chargers and batteries. Click here to review the complete products lists.
