Apple TV+ orders new “Surfside Girls” live action kids series

Apple TV+ has announced a new live-action kids and family series “Surfside Girls” from May Chan, WGA Award winner and Daytime Emmy Award nominee, based on the best-selling ‘Top Shelf Productions’ graphic novel series by author Kim Dwinell with the same name. 

The new series will be produced by Endeavor Content and IDW Entertainment. “Surfside Girls” will be written and executive produced by May Chan Chan, along with Alex Diaz and Julie Sagalowsky Diaz who are known for “The Shannara Chronicles,” and “What’s Up Warthogs!”. Other executive producers of the new show are Paul Stupin, Lydia Antonini, Paul Davidson, Jeff Brustrom, and America Young. Young will also direct the first two episodes of the series.

Miya Cech and YaYa Gosselin to star in Apple TV+ new Kids adventure series “Surfside Girls”

The upcoming 10-episodes series is based on the summer adventures of two friends to save their town. Miya Cech will play Jade and Sam will be played by YaYa Gosselin, to uncover the mystery of a ghost connected to a pirate ship through their scientific logic and imagination. 

Sam and Jade are psyched to spend their summer riding the waves and catching the rays.That is until they meet a ghost. The girls dive head-first into a mystery about a pirate ship and the cursed treasure that allegedly lies beneath Surfside’s beloved Danger Point bluff. After meeting a pirate ghost named Remi, Sam wants to help him break the curse while Jade is determined to find a scientific explanation for the existence of ghosts.

To solve the mystery, Sam and Jade will need to combine their very different approaches of logic and imagination. Together, they are determined to connect the clues, solve the mystery and save Surfside… and maybe they’ll help a couple of pirate ghosts along the way.

The launch date of the new show is not known at the moment but as per the announcement, will be joining other original series and movies for kids and families on Apple TV+ like soon to premiere “Snoopy Presents: For Auld Lang Syne”, and on-air “Hello, Jack! The Kindness Show”, “Ghostwriter”, “Helpsters”, “Wolfwalkers”, “Snoopy in Space” and others.
