A new Apple entry in a Bluetooth organization database appears to be a Mac and could be the 15-inch MacBook Air, which is rumored to be in development.
Rumored M2 15-inch MacBook Air may feature Bluetooth 5.3
According to recent sources, a 15-inch (or 15.5-inch) MacBook Air is now being mass-produced. Separately, a new Mac entry has been added to a database maintained by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, which lists Apple as a “promoter” member.
The only information provided is that the device will support Bluetooth 5.3, but it doesn’t specifically say if it’s a Mac or not. According to reports, the device won’t show up in the database’s publicly accessible search results unless it passes through a Bluetooth Qualification Procedure. But, the listing (via MacRumors) filed on February 18, 2023, does reference a relevant “qualified design,” which indicates that it is to do with macOS.
It seems that this Bluetooth Launch Studio only occasionally lists particular Apple devices. There are currently just 10 results, the most recent of which is the one that comes after this and dates from 2019. So, it may not be the same early indication of a new MacBook Air as an entry in the EEC database.
Apple’s entry does seem to be referring to a new Mac with certainty. But in that scenario, while it may be the new MacBook Air, it may also be valid for the filing of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models that were introduced in January.
As for the 15-inch MacBook Air, it is expected to be a larger version of the 13-inch MacBook Air. Accordingly, the tech giant will offer the MacBook Air in 13.6-inch or 15.5-inch size variants.
TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that it will not be called a “MacBook Air” but rather just a “MacBook.” The expert further suggests that M2 and M2 Pro variants for the 15-inch MacBook Air will be offered. There
