Apple’s website may have given away something about the full-sized HomePod. The alt text for the full-sized HomePod image on the HomePod order page now mentions a “multi-colored Siri AI glow on top,” which suggests the larger speaker could eventually get Siri AI.
Apple did not update the full-sized HomePod on October 13, when it announced HomePod mini 2. The line could also be a mistake in the page’s description, and Apple has said nothing about Siri AI on the larger speaker.
Looks like Apple got a little ahead of themselves.
The alt text for HomePod in the comparison section reads: “HomePod, white color, full-size cylindrical design, seamless acoustic mesh exterior, multi-colored Siri AI glow on top.”

HomePod mini 2 gets Siri AI in a later update and the full-sized speaker has no date
HomePod mini 2 supports Siri AI, but not at launch. Apple says it arrives in a future software update with no timeframe, in English in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the UK. Personal context requests need a paired iPhone or iPad with Apple Intelligence, and Siri AI will not be initially available in the European Union.
The assistant runs on an architecture built on the latest generation of Apple Foundation Models, and requests can use on-device processing or Private Cloud Compute. With an Apple Intelligence iPhone or iPad, it can privately act across apps to find a song a friend recommended in a text, set a reminder tied to a calendar event or location, or add ingredients to a grocery list.
Once Siri AI is enabled on a supported HomePod mini, even people without an Apple Intelligence iPhone or iPad get broad world knowledge, natural conversation, and better music discovery. The speaker can also recognize up to six people in a household by voice.
Bloomberg reported at the end of September that Apple plans to update the larger HomePod “eventually.” Siri AI support could end up limited to a new model of the speaker, and Apple’s plans are unknown.
Apple is already bringing Siri AI to older Apple TV 4K models
Apple has been clearer about its other living room hardware. Siri AI is available as a beta on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) or later, so older Apple TV 4K models are getting Siri AI without a hardware upgrade.
The new Apple TV 4K also supports four-speaker surround sound with HomePod (2nd generation) speakers in matching front and rear pairs. The full-sized HomePod already pairs with the newest Apple TV 4K, and Apple has not said whether a software update or a new speaker would bring it Siri AI.
HomePod mini 2 launches on Friday, October 30, and Apple has not given a date for Siri AI on it.
