Google Calendar for Android has been updated with Google Drive file support for event,s updated 7-day week view, .ics files import and more. The update is available in the Play Store for both Android phones and tablets.

There is no doubt that Google’s calendar app is one of the best calendar apps on Android. With the switch to Material Design visuals, the user interface has become a joy to use. The integration with Gmail for flights and other reservations, new schedule view and more have made it really good. Google keeps updating the functionality with incremental releases, with this newest release bringing minor improvements, along with the very useful .ics import from Gmail and other apps.

Here are the release notesfor the updates in this version:

  • See more events at a glance with 7-day week view and pinch-to-zoom
  • Add Google Drive files to events. Drive will even check if everyone can open them. 
  • Control whether birthdays from Google+ are shown in settings. You’ll also see the same changes on the web next week.
  • A new option to show week numbers in settings.
  • Import .ics files sent to you in Gmail and other apps
