Apple has released HomePod 27 for HomePod and HomePod mini, adding AutoMix support for Apple Music and improving AirPlay performance. The update also includes bug fixes and security improvements.
AutoMix is the main addition, bringing DJ-style transitions between songs to HomePod. AirPlay connections are also faster and more responsive when sending music from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac.
AutoMix Comes To HomePod
HomePod 27 brings AutoMix to HomePod and HomePod mini for Apple Music playback. The feature transitions between songs using time stretching and beatmatching, creating smoother changes without interrupting the flow of a playlist.
AutoMix works automatically with compatible Apple Music content, making playlists feel more like a continuous mix rather than a series of separate tracks.
AirPlay Gets Faster
HomePod 27 also improves AirPlay performance. Apple says connections are faster and more responsive when sharing music from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac to HomePod.
The improvements should make it quicker to start playback on HomePod and switch music between Apple devices and the speaker.
Bug Fixes And Security Updates
Alongside AutoMix and AirPlay improvements, HomePod 27 includes bug fixes and security updates. Apple has not listed additional major feature changes for this release.
No Siri AI For HomePod Yet
HomePod 27 does not add Apple’s new Siri AI experience. HomePod and HomePod mini continue to use the existing Siri experience with this update.
