New HomePod Mini Reportedly Ships October 30 with an S10 Chip

Apple’s next HomePod mini is reportedly set to reach customers and Apple Stores on Friday, October 30. The refreshed speaker uses an S10 chip and adds a new lineup of colors.

The details come from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who covered the speaker in his Power On newsletter. Apple is expected to unveil the HomePod mini on Tuesday, October 13, alongside the HomeView smart home hub and a new Apple TV 4K.

The S10 Chip Reportedly Brings Siri AI to the HomePod Mini

Gurman says the S10 chip extends voice control, music playback and other features to the rest of the house, and that it powers Siri AI on the speaker. An earlier report pointed to an S9 chip, so the S10 is a change from what was expected.

Siri AI is the reason the hardware took so long. Apple has been trying to launch its new home devices since late 2024, and Gurman says the rollout kept slipping because the revamped assistant was not ready. Launching new speakers with the old Siri would have hurt the product, in his view. Siri AI has since launched in beta in iOS 27, starting in English.

The current HomePod mini launched alongside the iPhone 12 lineup in 2020 and already works as a home hub for Matter accessories. That makes the October 30 date the end of a wait of roughly six years for a new model.

The HomePod Mini Reportedly Fits Into a Three-Device Home Lineup

Gurman describes the three new products as one system. The HomeView is the display-equipped Siri command center with an A18 chip, the HomePod mini spreads voice control and music through the rest of the house, and the new Apple TV 4K, which uses a standard A19 chip, brings the experience to the living room.

Beyond the new chip, he says the main upgrade is a refreshed color lineup of pink, white, green, blue and midnight. That matches the five colors in an earlier leak.

The Matter and Thread standards also help here. Gurman says they have eased the compatibility and connectivity problems that plagued HomeKit, so the new Apple devices can work with a broader range of existing accessories instead of forcing people to start over.

The HomeView is said to offer better sound quality than the new HomePod mini. It is also the last of the three products to ship, with Gurman pointing to around mid-November.
