Apple’s next HomePod mini has appeared in Apple’s own code, revealing the name “HomePod mini 2” and images of the updated speaker in five colors. The new model is expected to keep the same overall design as the original HomePod mini.
The code points to green, pink, blue, white and black finishes. A new chip is also expected, while Siri AI support could be one of the main reasons Apple is updating the hardware.
HomePod Mini 2 Will Keep The Same Design
Apple’s product images show the HomePod mini 2 with the same compact, spherical design as the current model. The original HomePod mini has a 3.3-inch fabric-covered body with a backlit touch surface on top.
The images also identify the device specifically as “HomePod mini 2,” providing a stronger indication of the product than earlier rumors alone. Apple has not officially announced the new speaker.
Five Colors Are Shown In Apple’s Code
The HomePod mini 2 is shown in five finishes:
- Green
- Pink
- Blue
- White
- Black
The blue finish appears to be slightly lighter than the blue used on the current HomePod mini. The existing model is available in yellow, orange, blue, white and midnight, so green, pink and black would be new additions.
A New Chip And Siri AI Are Expected
Apple is expected to use a newer chip in the HomePod mini 2. The current model uses the S5 chip, which was introduced with the original HomePod mini in 2020.
Siri AI is also expected to come to the new speaker. Apple has been preparing newer Siri capabilities for its latest devices, but existing HomePod models do not currently support the full Siri AI experience.
HomePod Mini 2 Could Launch This Year
The appearance of product images in Apple’s code suggests the HomePod mini 2 could be nearing its launch. Apple has not announced a release date, but the new speaker is expected before the end of 2026.
The original HomePod mini launched in October 2020 for $99 before Apple later raised its price to $129. Apple has not revealed pricing for the new model.
