Apple offers Dual SIM support in iPhone 12 series, iPhone 11 series, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR but those models feature Dual SIM with a nano-SIM and an eSIM, not two active eSIMs. Here are all the details you need to know about iPhone 13 Dual SIM and eSIM.

iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro dual SIM and eSIM details

Compatible iPhone models use Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS) technology, which enables both SIMS to make and receive calls. iPhone 13 Dual SIM capability can be used to keep two mobile numbers for work, home, business, clients, and more, to utilize two data plans to get extra minutes, coverage, and two avoid roaming charges when traveling abroad.

To use Dual SIM, all you need is a supporting iPhone on iOS 13 or later and a wireless carrier that supports eSIMs to make and receive voice and FaceTime calls, send and receive messages using SMS, MMS, and iMessage. And to use 5G and Dual SIM, users will require iPhone 12 models and iPhone 13 models on iOS 14.0 or later. It must be kept in mind that you will be able to use one cellular data network at a time.

You will need an unlocked iPhone to use two different carriers. “Otherwise, both plans must be from the same carrier. If a CDMA carrier provides your first SIM, your second SIM won’t support CDMA. Contact your carrier for more information.” To learn which wireless carrier supports eSIM in your region click here.

eSIM on iPhone is not offered in China mainland but iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone SE (2020), and iPhone XS support eSIM in Hong Kong and Macao. And exclusively China mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao Apple offer Dual SIM with two nano-SIMs which allows users to utilize two physical SIM cards in their compatible iPhones.
