Developer creates concept iPhone 14 Pro Dynamic Island game “Hit The Island”

One of the most standout features of the latest Pro series is the iPhone 14 Pro Dynamic Island. The new intuitive and always-alive space redesigns the way users will interact with their iPhones to see notifications, access music, get directions, view content, and much more.

Apple has allowed third-party developers to create their own iPhone 14 Pro Dynamic Island experiences for their apps. But developer Kriss Smolka has another use for the new space. Creator of WaterMinder and Habit Minder app, Smolka now created a concept Dynamic Island game that images simple Pong-like gameplay for “Hit The Island”.

iPhone 14 Pro Dynamic Island could revive old-school gaming on mobile

Smolka shared his game’s concept for iPhone 14 Pro Dynamic Island on Twitter, looking for a friend to test it on the device “asap!”.

As seen in the demo,  “Hit The Island” features a mobile paddle to bounce a ball and hit the Dynamic Island on loop. The gameplay is similar to old-school mobile games in which the player has to prevent the ball from missing the paddle at the bottom of the screen.

A counter under the paddle records the number of times the ball hits the Dynamic Island which expands on impact. Smolka wrote that the game is turning out nice but has lagging issues.

Earlier, graphic designer Parker Ortolani created a concept for iPhone 14 Pro Dynamic Island for iPad Pro that images the spaceā€™s functionality on a larger screen, ideal for improving the multitasking experience.

Update: the game is now available for free in the App Store.
