iPhone 17 Pro leak hints at bold new orange color option

With Apple’s iPhone 17 event just days away, the rumor cycle is heating up, and one of the most intriguing leaks yet has surfaced. Long-time leaker Sonny Dickson has shared images that appear to show Camera Control hardware components for the upcoming lineup, revealing a surprising mix of potential colors.

iPhone 17 Pro orange

The components are shown in yellow, green, blue, pink, and black in one set of images, while another set includes dark blue, silver, and a vibrant orange. The orange in particular has caught attention, looking almost identical to the shade Apple used for the Action button on the Apple Watch Ultra. If this proves accurate, it could mark the boldest iPhone Pro color Apple has ever introduced.

Historically, the Pro models have leaned toward refined finishes like graphite, titanium, and muted blues. A bright, adventurous orange would break from tradition and echo Apple’s strategy with the Apple Watch Ultra, where the orange accent was designed to set the device apart as the performance-driven option. This approach suggests Apple may be positioning the iPhone 17 Pro as not just powerful but also visually distinctive.

There has been some inconsistency in color rumors for the iPhone 17 series, with earlier leaks suggesting shades like pink, black, white, and blue. The latest images raise the possibility that Apple is experimenting with a wider range of finishes across both the standard iPhone 17 models and the Pro lineup. Whether the leaked Camera Control hardware reflects final production units or pre-release prototypes remains unclear, but last-minute leaks like this often prove to be close to reality.

Apple will confirm the full color lineup at its September 9 “Awe dropping” event at Apple Park, where the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and Apple Watch Series 11 are expected to be announced. If the orange iPhone 17 Pro makes it to launch, it could become the standout color of 2025.
