Meta is testing a new AI-powered iPhone app called StoryKit that creates personalized children’s stories complete with custom illustrations, narration, original music, and printable storybooks. The app is currently available only on the App Store in Mexico, suggesting Meta is conducting an early regional test before considering a broader release.
Instead of choosing from a library of pre-written stories, StoryKit generates a new story based on a few simple prompts. Users can create or upload a character, pick a setting such as an enchanted forest or outer space, and choose a lesson centered on values like kindness, courage, empathy, or friendship. The app then uses AI to create a unique story tailored to those selections.
Each story can be enjoyed in several different formats. StoryKit generates an illustrated picture book with narrated pages and original background music, an audiobook for hands-free listening, a read-aloud version for parents who prefer telling the story themselves, and a printable PDF that children can keep, color, or share.
The new app highlights another way Meta is expanding the use of its generative AI technology. While the company’s AI features are already available across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, Threads, and the Meta AI app, StoryKit focuses on a completely different use case by creating personalized reading experiences for families.
Meta has not announced whether StoryKit will launch in additional countries, and the app remains unavailable in markets such as the United States. The limited rollout suggests the company is gathering feedback before deciding on a wider release.
