Microsoft releases Windows 11 Build 22621.457 to the Release Preview Channel

Microsoft has released Windows 11 Build 22621.457 to the Release Preview Channel with enhancements to Microsoft Defender for Endpoint to identify ransomware attacks, improvements to storage replication over low bandwidth, and privacy usage history for camera, microphone, phone calls, etc. The update is available not to insiders who have enrolled their Windows 11 PCs in the Release Preview Channel.

The enhancement to Microsoft Defender for Endpoint ensures that it can better identify ransomware and advanced attacks, and intercept them before they can do any damage. In terms of privacy improvements, users can now go to Settings > Privacy & Security to view history for usage of resources like camera and microphone by apps. This feature is a welcome addition to help identify malicious apps.

Other improvements include file compression which works regardless of size, if Service Message Block Compression is configured. Storage replication has also been improved to work better over low bandwidth or congested networks.

Microsoft has also included a bunch of fixes for tablet mode, networking, Edge, Windows Hello, printers, and more.

  • We fixed an issue that affects the Sync across your devices option under Settings > System > Clipboard. The option will not remain enabled.
