Move to iOS – Apple’s first app for Android

Apple has released its first app for Android, Move to iOS, which is available in the Google Play Store for download. The app is meant to allow users to easily move their content from Android to iPhone or an iPad.

Move to iOS can migrate the following information from Android to iOS:

  • Contacts
  • Message history
  • Camera photos and videos
  • Web bookmarks
  • Mail accounts
  • Calendars

When you prepare to use the app, your iPhone or iPad creates a secure wireless network and connect with your Android device. A security code needs to be entered to authorise the device. Once connected, users can chose which data from the supported content to transfer to iPhone.

The process is fairly simple and easy and seems to cover all the basic content that users would need to copy to a new iPhone or iPad. Once everything is transferred, you are good to go and start using your phone. It is important to note that purchases content such as apps or any media cannot be copied due to rights management.

Apple finishes the transfer process by offering to recycle your Android phone for free at any Apple Store.
