Apple has officially released the first developer beta of iOS 27 following its WWDC 2026 keynote, giving developers an early look at the software’s biggest new features. However, users hoping to try Apple’s new Siri AI experience immediately may be in for a wait.

One of the headline announcements of iOS 27 is Siri AI, Apple’s next-generation assistant powered by Apple Intelligence. While the feature is included in iOS 27 beta 1, Apple is not granting instant access to everyone. Instead, the company is using a waitlist system similar to the rollout of Apple Intelligence features during the iOS 18.1 beta cycle.
The waitlist approach allows Apple to gradually expand access while testing performance and reliability. Apple has not shared how long users will need to wait before receiving access, but some developers could gain entry within hours while others may need to wait longer.
If you have already installed iOS 27 beta 1, joining the Siri AI waitlist is simple:
- Open the Settings app.
- Navigate to the new Siri section.
- Tap Join Waitlist.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete registration.
Once enrolled, Apple will send a notification when Siri AI becomes available on your device.
The new Siri AI experience represents Apple’s biggest overhaul of Siri since the assistant launched. It introduces more natural conversations, improved contextual understanding, richer responses, and a redesigned interface integrated with the Dynamic Island. Users can also interact with Siri by typing through a new swipe-down gesture from the Dynamic Island, in addition to using voice commands and the side button.

Apple has also added new capabilities such as Write with Siri, which can help draft emails, messages, and other text while adapting to a user’s personal communication style. Siri AI can also understand on-screen content, summarize information, and assist with a wider range of everyday tasks.
Not every iPhone will support Siri AI. The feature requires Apple Intelligence-compatible hardware, including iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and newer supported models. Siri AI is currently available only in English and is not available on iPhone and iPad in the European Union at launch, though Mac users in the region can access it. Apple has also confirmed that Siri AI is unavailable in China.
While iOS 27 beta 1 is currently limited to developers, Apple is expected to release a public beta next month before the software launches to all users later this year. If you’re eager to test Apple’s most ambitious Siri update yet, joining the waitlist is currently the only way to gain access.
