Windows7 RC to be 7100

Windows 7 Yes, that’s right. Build version 6.1.7100.0.winmain_win7rc.090421-1700 is going the be the release candidate of Windows 7, expected on 5th May. While, there are also expectations that Steven Sinofsky might have some surprises for RC or RTM, there’s no source to confirm it so far. A little clean up of the UI is certain, also expect a new wallpaper instead of the Betta Fish one.

MSDN and TechNet subscribers might get it earlier than the public, so I’ll be keeping an eye on that. Do remember, upgrading from Beta to RC isn’t recommended and you need to go through these steps for it. The same will apply for upgrading from RC to RTM version of Windows 7.

Happy testing folks! and play safe with your data!
