Apple has released the first developer beta of visionOS 27 following WWDC 2026, giving developers an early look at the next major software update for Apple Vision Pro.

visionOS 27 beta 1 is now available through the Apple Developer Program and introduces new APIs, Apple Intelligence enhancements, Siri improvements, spatial computing updates, and developer tools designed specifically for Vision Pro. The public beta is expected to arrive later this summer, with the final release scheduled for later this year.
One of the biggest additions in visionOS 27 is expanded Siri functionality. Apple says users will eventually be able to activate Siri simply by looking at the Siri orb and speaking, offering an alternative to “Hey Siri” voice activation. However, the feature is disabled in the first beta release.

Apple also continues to expand Apple Intelligence throughout visionOS. The release notes include updates to Foundation Models, Apple Intelligence Reports, Home Intelligence integration, and Private Cloud Compute. Developers can begin testing these capabilities, though Apple notes several limitations and bugs in the initial beta.
The update introduces localized Background Assets, allowing apps to download language-specific content only when required. New StoreKit APIs, SwiftUI enhancements, system-level improvements, and updates for RealityKit and Reality Composer Pro are also included in the release.
For Vision Pro users, several known issues remain. Apple notes that Spatial Personas may appear laggy during High Quality Recording, Spatial Gallery can freeze when loading panoramas, and Mac Virtual Display sessions may occasionally disconnect instead of resuming automatically. Some Spatial Accessories, including supported controllers and styluses, may also stop tracking until restarted.
Developers working with immersive experiences should also be aware of issues affecting RealityKit, Spatial Preview, WebXR, Quick Look annotations, and screen recording. Apple warns that some large 3D models may fail to load correctly on Vision Pro, while certain RealityKit features may require testing on physical hardware rather than the simulator.
Siri itself still has a number of limitations in beta 1. Users may encounter issues with image generation, message sending, contact resolution, environment controls, and Siri conversations. Apple has provided workarounds for many of these issues while development continues throughout the beta cycle.
As with all first developer betas, visionOS 27 beta 1 is intended for developers and advanced testers. Early software builds often contain unfinished features, bugs, performance issues, and compatibility problems that may affect the overall Vision Pro experience.
Apple is expected to release additional visionOS 27 beta updates throughout the summer before the software becomes available to all Apple Vision Pro users later this year.
