Apple’s October 13 home launch is reportedly leaving out the full-size HomePod. The larger speaker has not been updated since 2023, and a version with Siri AI is not arriving next month.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple plans to announce a smart home hub, a new Apple TV 4K and a HomePod mini 2 on Tuesday, October 13. His report mentions the larger speaker in a single sentence, and it gives no date. Apple has not confirmed any of this.
Apple aims to eventually update its larger HomePod speaker as well.
Three Home Products Are Reportedly Launching With Siri AI Support
Leading the group is the smart home hub, which runs a new operating system built around Siri AI. Earlier reports pointed to a 7-inch display and a price of around $350. Apple reportedly held the hub until Siri AI was ready, and Siri AI arrived this month with iOS 27. The company’s retail redesign this fall also adds accessory bays for new home products.
The Apple TV 4K gets the biggest spec jump of the group. The rumored hardware includes an A17 Pro chip or newer and 8GB of RAM, up from 4GB. Apple raised the price of the current model in June, and the 64GB Wi-Fi version now starts at $199 in the U.S.
The HomePod mini 2 keeps the round design, with a leak showing five colors, and is expected to support Siri AI. The original HomePod mini launched at $99 in 2020, and Apple later raised the price to $129.
October 13 has some history for Apple, since the company announced the original HomePod mini on October 13, 2020, exactly six years before the new launch. Apple has not confirmed pricing for any of the three products.
The Full-Size HomePod Will Be the Only Home Product Left on the Old Siri
If the October 13 plan holds, the hub, the Apple TV 4K and the HomePod mini 2 will all be on the new Siri. The full-size HomePod will be the only Apple home product limited to the old one.
Current speakers are already in that position. HomePod Software 27 includes code for Siri AI, but Apple has not turned it on for any existing HomePod model. A new full-size HomePod has been in development according to earlier reports, although the release timing was never clear.
Apple is also testing a four-speaker HomePod surround system and party mode in audioOS 27. No date has been tied to either feature.
