Apple’s HomeView smart home hub is reportedly arriving around mid-November, roughly a month after Apple unveils it on Tuesday, October 13. The hub pairs a display with an A18 chip and serves as the Siri command center for an Apple-powered home.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman shared the details in his latest Power On newsletter. He cautions that the mid-November date reflects the current plan, so it could still change before the hub reaches customers.
The HomeView Reportedly Comes as a Countertop Hub and a Wall-Mounted Display
The HomeView will reportedly be sold in two versions. The countertop model has a metal speaker base and comes in Space Gray, silver, starlight and pink. The wall-mounted version has a flat, square base that sits against the wall beneath the display, and it is limited to Space Gray and silver.
Gurman says the HomeView is expected to sound better than the upcoming HomePod mini. The screen supports touch input, but the device is meant to be controlled mostly by voice. That is how he explains the name, since “view” describes a display you look at, while a name like HomePad would suggest an iPad-like experience built around touch. The name first surfaced in a trademark filing by a shell company.
The HomeView Will Reportedly Run Only a Limited Set of Apple Apps
The hub supports a limited selection of Apple applications and has no App Store for downloading more. Apple is relying on accessories that connect to the HomeView and respond to Siri, the Home app and other Apple devices.
Some of those accessories come from a partnership with LG Electronics. Gurman calls the lineup the Apple Home Collection. It includes a smart doorbell, a deadbolt lock, a thermostat, a temperature sensor, indoor and outdoor security cameras and a floodlight camera, which matches the LG-built doorbell, lock and thermostat reported earlier this month. Apple is also working with Schneider Electric SE on energy-related devices for the European market. The LG products are not expected to ship until later this year at the earliest.
Apple has been trying to launch its home devices since late 2024, according to Gurman, but delays to the revamped Siri held the rollout back. Siri AI has now launched in beta, and the Matter and Thread standards have eased the compatibility problems that limited HomeKit, so the new products can work with a wider range of existing accessories.
Apple Reportedly Sees the Smart Home as a Defense Against AI Rivals
Gurman describes the launch as a defensive move. If someone falls for a new device from Amazon, Google or OpenAI, leaving Apple gets easier when their home is not already built around Apple products. A ready-made lineup of hub, speaker, TV box and accessories gives iPhone owners a reason to stay.
He does not expect Apple to overtake Amazon or Google in the home any time soon. The goal is to make the home a meaningful part of Apple’s lineup and make it harder for customers to leave.
Apple is expected to announce the HomeView on Tuesday, October 13, alongside the new HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K, which are both slated to ship on October 30.
