Apple to launch a new App Store feature ‘in-app’ events on iOS 15 and iPadOS 15. The company told developers that starting next week, their in-app events will be easily discovered directly from the App Store to showcase the event and expand their reach.
In-app events are events within an app such as movie premieres, live-streamed shows, game competitions, and more like the musical concerts in the Fortnite gaming app by Epic Games. iPhone and iPad users will be able to discover in-app events of their favorite or newly found apps right on their respective App Stores.
From Oct. 27, developers will be able to create in-app events on App Store Connect for them to appear on the digital marketplace
Starting from October 27, 2021, developers will be able to create in-app events on the App Store Connect and schedule for them to appear on iOS and iPadOS App Stores. Apple announced the new feature on its developers’ website.
Starting next week, your in-app events can be discovered right on the App Store, giving you a whole new way to showcase your events and expand their reach. You can now create in-app events in App Store Connect and schedule them to appear on the App Store. These timely events, such as game competitions, movie premieres, and livestreamed experiences, can encourage people to try your app, provide existing users with new ways to enjoy your app, and give former users reasons to return. Events will appear on the App Store on iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 starting October 27, 2021.
Apple will release iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, macOS Monterey, and other software updates on Monday, October 25.
This is one of the other changes recently made to Apple’s digital marketplace. The company has made it mandatory for all apps that require account creation to offer account deletion with app option to users control over their data, it has brought back an improved ‘Report a Problem’ link to combat the issue of scam apps and for developers to better understand their apps’ performance, the company has introduced new metrics on App Analytics.
