Apple boosts London Marathon with Watch and Fitness+

Apple is expanding its presence in the TCS London Marathon as an official partner for the 2026 race, bringing its health, fitness, and music ecosystem directly into one of the world’s most popular running events. With more than one million applicants for this year’s ballot, the April 26 race continues to draw global attention, and Apple is positioning its products as essential tools for both training and race day.

The tech giant’s approach goes beyond branding. Apple is building a full marathon week experience around its devices and services, combining in-store events, community activities, and on-course music to connect with runners at every stage. From preparation to recovery, the focus is on integrating Apple Watch, iPhone, AirPods, and Fitness+ into how people train and perform.

In the days leading up to the marathon, Apple is hosting free events at its Brompton Road store in London. These include a Race Day Inspiration session featuring fitness coach Joe Wicks alongside athletes like Hellah Sidibe and Becky Briggs. The session is followed by a 5K run in Hyde Park, giving participants practical training insights and a final tune-up before race day.

Another highlight is a live podcast recording with Paula Radcliffe and Chris Thompson, focused on race strategy, mindset, and the role of technology in long-distance running. Both events are part of Apple’s effort to create a physical space for runners to prepare, learn, and connect ahead of the marathon.

On race day itself, Apple Music will play a central role, with DJs and artists positioned along the course to keep runners motivated. Apple has also released curated playlists, including a seven-hour Ultimate Marathon Playlist designed for both training runs and race day pacing.

At the product level, the focus remains on Apple Watch Ultra and its running capabilities. Features like precision GPS, heart rate zones, cadence tracking, and training load insights are positioned as tools that help runners manage performance in real time. With up to 20 hours of battery life during workouts, the device is built to last through a full marathon.

The broader ecosystem adds to that experience. iPhone models bring features like Action mode video and Dual Capture for documenting runs, while AirPods Pro 3 offer workout tracking, active noise cancellation, and durability for outdoor conditions. Together, these products create a connected setup that supports both performance tracking and motivation.

Apple is also expanding its training content through Apple Fitness+. A new program launching April 20, developed in collaboration with Strava, focuses on strength training for runners. Additional running-focused content, including guided runs and structured programs like 5K and 10K plans, is now organized into a dedicated section within the service.

Outside of the race itself, Apple is investing in local community initiatives. A new “Hour of Play” event for students in London introduces younger participants to fitness through structured activities, reinforcing the company’s focus on health and movement beyond competitive running.
