Apple’s New Macs and iPad Mini to Get a Los Angeles Showcase

Apple is planning a two-day product showcase in Los Angeles on October 27 and October 28, and content creators are the audience. The showcase is expected to cover the touchscreen MacBook Pro, a new 24-inch iMac and an OLED iPad mini, all due on or around October 27.

The plans come from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who shared them in a post on X. Apple has not announced either date, so the schedule remains a report for now.

Apple Is Not Planning a Traditional Event With a Live Stream

Gurman says people should not expect a live-streamed video on either day. Apple is building the showcase around “experiences” for content creators, the same format it is using in New York on Tuesday, October 13.

That is a change from earlier expectations. A previous report said the launch would follow the home event format, with an online video presentation and an in-person component. Gurman’s latest note says there will be no live stream.

The two creator gatherings fit the pattern of two rounds of product launches Apple is reportedly planning for October. The New York gathering comes first and is expected to bring an all-new HomeView smart home hub, a HomePod mini 2 and an updated Apple TV 4K.

Four Products Are Expected to Launch on or Around October 27

Gurman lists four products for the Los Angeles showcase. Here is what is expected from each one:

  • 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with OLED: touchscreen support, M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, a Dynamic Island, a significantly lighter design and possibly Apple’s C1X or C2 modem for built-in cellular connectivity
  • 24-inch iMac: an M6 chip and new color options
  • 14-inch MacBook Pro: an M6 chip
  • iPad mini 8: an OLED display, an A20 Pro chip, a landscape front camera, a redesigned speaker system and a water-resistant design

That puts two 14-inch MacBook Pro models on the list, the redesigned OLED version and an M6 version. Our M6 MacBook Pro guide covers the chip details for the second one.

The M6 iMac is expected to arrive with new colors and no design overhaul. Every known detail on the tablet is collected in our iPad mini 8 OLED guide.

The OLED MacBook Pro Is Expected to Be Lighter and the iPad Mini More Expensive

Earlier reports described the touchscreen laptop as much lighter than today’s models, which matches the “significantly lighter” design on this list. The new iPad mini is expected to cost more too. Gurman has guessed a price near $799 which is $200 above the current $599 model.

The Los Angeles showcase is expected to be Apple’s final major launch of 2026, according to Gurman.
