A ‘Release Candidate’ of a software update represents its final version which is rolled out to the public. And the Release Candidate of macOS Monterey introduces a new ‘Monterey’ screen saver that is designed to complement the Monterey wallpaper. As seen in the short clip shared by @Steve Moser, the new screen saver slowly and beautifully transitions through hills and valleys in vibrant shades of pink, blue and purple.

Another change found in the update before public release is the return of the old Safari tab design but Apple has kept the new company tab design for those who preferred it. The company has also confirmed that the Universal Control feature will be part of the update releasing on Monday and is scheduled for later this fall launch on its support page.

Along with the new macOS update, Apple will also release iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, tvOS 15.1, and watchOS 8.1 to the public. With new features like SharePlay, support for COVID-19 vaccination card in Apple Wallet, and more, the iOS 15.1 will include several fixes for issues in the iOS 15 update like “photos app may incorrectly report storage is full when importing photos and videos, weather app may not show current temperature for My Location, and may display colors of animated backgrounds incorrectly” and others.
