On Monday, a U.S. Court Judge ruled in favor of Apple’s removal of the popular Fortnite app from the iOS App Store. Now the iPhone maker has released a public statement on the ruling stating that it is ready to welcome Fortnite back on its digital ecosystem for users who enjoy the
This harsh decision was taken by Apple in response to the game’s developer, Epic Games, breach of the digital store’s guidelines. The developer introduced a new Epic direct payment update on the game’s iOS app which completely cut off Apple from all in-app purchases via its digital store. This controversial update was also released on Google Play which received the same reaction as Apple’s.
Apple will Welcome Fortnite Back
A renowned tech analyst at Bloomberg, Mark Gurman shared the company’s response to the court’s interim order. It reads,
We thank the court for recognizing that Epic’s problem is entirely self-inflicted and is in their power to resolve. Our very fist priority is making sure App Store users have a great experience in a safe and dusted environment, including iPhone users who play Fortnite and who are looking forward to the game’s next season. We agree with judge Gonzalez-Rogers that ‘the sensible way to proceed’ is for Epic to comply with the App Store guidelines and continue to operate while the case proceeds. If Epic takes the steps the judge has recommended, we will gladly welcome Fortnite back onto iO. We look forward to making our case to the court in September.
This statement on the issue is made just a day before the release of Fortnite’s Chapter 2- Season 4 of Fortnite on August 27. As of writing, Epic has shared on Twitter that the new season will not be releasing on iOS and is receiving backlash from users over it.
Apple has blocked your ability to update Fortnite on the App Store, and has said they will terminate our ability to develop Fortnite for Apple devices. As a result, Chapter 2 – Season 4 (v14.00) will not release on Apple devices on August 27.
