The best iPad A16 keyboard cases split into two camps, with Apple and Logitech cases that run without charging and eight wireless cases that add features such as a rotating hinge or a second pairing slot. All 10 cases fit both the 11-inch iPad (A16) and the 10.9-inch iPad 10th generation, so the model number on the back of your iPad decides fit.
The Apple Magic Keyboard Folio needs no pairing, and the Logitech Combo Touch powers on through the iPad’s Smart Connector. Among the wireless cases, choose by hinge style, backlight and whether you want a stated drop rating.

Apple and Logitech Keyboard Cases for the iPad A16 Need No Charging
Apple Magic Keyboard Folio
Apple’s own design splits into a detachable keyboard and a protective back panel, and both attach to the iPad magnetically. The back panel has an adjustable stand, and the keyboard adds a click-anywhere trackpad and a 14-key function row.
Amazon has the White color at $199 right now, and it is the only case here made by Apple. It needs no charging or pairing, and it works with the iPad (A16) and the iPad 10th generation.
Logitech Combo Touch
A kickstand with 50 degrees of tilt and four use modes called Type, Read, Sketch and View set the Logitech Combo Touch apart. The backlit keyboard has a full row of iPadOS shortcut keys, including Screenshot and Dictation keys, and it detaches when you only want the screen.
The Oxford Gray color costs $129.99 on Amazon right now. The keyboard powers on through the Smart Connector, so it never needs charging. It has a large precision trackpad and fits the iPad (A16) models A3354, A3355 and A3356 as well as the 10th generation models A2696, A2757 and A2777.
ZAGG, ESR and typecase Wireless Keyboard Cases Add Drop Ratings, Stands and Hinges
ZAGG Rugged Book
A stated drop rating of 6.6 feet makes the ZAGG Rugged Book the only case here with a drop number. The wireless keyboard detaches, carries an Apple Pencil holder and has seven backlight colors.
Amazon has the Black color at $129.99 right now. A magnetic hinge holds several viewing angles, and the keyboard pairs with a second device so you can switch between the iPad and another device.
typecase Edge
A floating magnetic stand holds the iPad above the typecase Edge keyboard, which gives the setup a laptop-style look. The multi-touch trackpad has palm rejection, and the backlight offers 11 colors and three brightness levels.
You can get the Black color for $75.99 on Amazon right now. The case uses synthetic vegan leather and has an Apple Pencil holder and a rechargeable Bluetooth keyboard, and typecase adds 12 months of support.
typecase Touch
Where the typecase Edge floats the iPad, the typecase Touch rotates it on a 360 degree hinge that supports seven use modes, from typing to tablet mode. A thin hard shell covers all sides of the iPad, and the screen sleeps and wakes automatically.
You can get the Black color for $61.71 on Amazon right now. It has the same 11-color backlight as the typecase Edge, plus an Apple Pencil holder and a USB-C rechargeable battery.
ESR Flex Series
Two fixed viewing angles come from the triangular stand on the ESR Flex Series, 65 degrees for working and watching and 20 degrees for sketching and writing. The magnetic keyboard is 6.9 mm thick, and ESR says its trackpad is 65% larger than the trackpad on regular keyboards.
The Dark Gray color costs $59.99 on Amazon right now. The keyboard has no backlight, which the ZAGG Rugged Book and both typecase cases include, and reinforced Air Guard corners protect the iPad.
Harvopu, Hamile, FUWANG and CHESONA Make Lower-Priced Keyboard Cases
Harvopu Folio Keyboard Case
Soft PU on the outside and a TPU honeycomb interior that helps with heat make up the Harvopu folio case. The magnetic keyboard has a trackpad, seven backlight colors and a 420mAh battery that charges over USB-C in two to three hours.
Navy Blue is $26.98 on Amazon right now, and Black is also sold. Three grooves in the case set the viewing angle, and a pencil is not included.
Hamile Folio Keyboard Case
Besides the iPad, the Hamile keyboard works with iOS, Windows and Android devices, so it can also pair with a phone or another tablet. A 420mAh battery gives at least 230 hours of use, and the keys have seven backlight colors.
Navy Blue is $20.97 on Amazon right now, and Dark Cherry is also sold. The keyboard charges fully in two hours over USB-C, and a pencil holder sits on top of the case.
FUWANG Touch Keyboard Case
Like the typecase Touch, the FUWANG Touch rotates 360 degrees, and FUWANG rates its alloy hinge for more than 20,000 open and close cycles. The hard shell covers the whole iPad, leaves room for a screen protector and holds an Apple Pencil.
Amazon has the Blue color at $39.99 right now. Pressing Fn and A locks the trackpad so a palm tap does not move the cursor, and the 500mAh battery gives up to 130 days of standby.
CHESONA Detachable Keyboard Case
Two wireless channels let the CHESONA keyboard pair with two devices, and one click switches between them. A 500mAh battery gives up to 120 days of standby, and the backlight turns off after 30 seconds without typing.
You can get the Black color for $25.99 on Amazon right now. It is a detachable folio with a multi-touch trackpad and an Apple Pencil holder, and it fits only the iPad A16 and the iPad 10th generation.
Choose by Connection, Hinge and Backlight
If you want a keyboard that never needs charging, pick the Apple Magic Keyboard Folio or the Logitech Combo Touch. The Logitech Combo Touch adds a backlit keyboard and a kickstand with 50 degrees of tilt.
For a laptop-style hinge, the typecase Touch and FUWANG Touch rotate 360 degrees, and the typecase Edge floats the iPad on a magnetic stand. The ZAGG Rugged Book is the one to pick if drop protection matters most.
The Harvopu, Hamile, FUWANG and CHESONA cases cover the lower-priced end, and the Hamile keyboard also pairs with Windows and Android devices. If you would rather have a plain protective case, our best iPad 10th generation cases roundup covers those.
My Pick Is the Logitech Combo Touch for the iPad A16
The Logitech Combo Touch is my pick for the iPad A16, because it needs no charging, adds a backlit keyboard and tilts to 50 degrees. The Apple Magic Keyboard Folio is the alternative if you want a case made by Apple, with a keyboard and back panel that detach separately.
