Fold Focus is a Pomodoro timer that raises a building in your virtual city for every focus session you spend with the iPhone Duo closed, and opening the phone early knocks the building down.
The app comes from ArveLabs Ltd and is on the App Store as a free download that needs a Pro subscription to unlock the app. Fold Focus Pro costs $5.99 a month or $29.99 a year, and the yearly plan includes a 7-day free trial.
Closing the phone starts the timer and opening it early knocks the building down
You pick a session length from 10 to 120 minutes, and longer sessions raise bigger buildings, from houses and shops to apartments, towers and landmarks. Closing the iPhone Duo starts the session. On any other iPhone you place the phone face down, and if you use a stand, you start with one tap.
The phone has to stay closed until the timer ends. Do that and the building stands in your city for good, but open it early and the building falls. If you open the phone by accident, you get 10 seconds to close it again before the building goes down.
Fold Focus is built for both displays and every pose of the foldable. When you close the phone, the session carries on over the outer display with a big countdown. When you open it, the city fills the inner display, with the city on one side and your controls on the other.
Daily goals, streaks and a history of every building keep you on track
You can set a daily goal of 30, 60 or 120 minutes, and the app keeps a streak for every day you hit it. A weekly chart shows how your time adds up, and a history lists every building you raised or lost. Fold Focus sends a reminder when a session ends, and a nudge if you leave mid-session.
An in-app event called the First Landmark Challenge asks you to close the phone for one 90-minute session so that a pixel landmark rises over your city.
Fold Focus needs no account or sign-up, and your sessions and your city stay on your iPhone. You can delete all your data in Settings at any time. The developer lists usage data and purchase history that are not linked to your identity.
The studio also makes Unfold Walls, a wallpaper app with paired images for foldable lock screens, and the best iPhone Duo wallpapers work the same way across the outer and inner displays. If you want a gentler timer, Portal has redesigned its Pomodoro timer for every pose of the foldable.
Fold Focus is a 16.3 MB download that requires iOS 18.0 or later and is available in English.
