Intel Unison app will let PC users text, call and share files from iPhone and Android

At the unveiling of its next-generation 13th Gen Intel Core Processors, Intel has also introduced its new Unison app which will enable users to send photos, texts, and more between Windows PC and iOS and Android devices.

Currently, Windows computers do not offer an integrated ecosystem for users to easily share files between PC and mobile like Apple’s cross-platform support between iOS and macOS. Intel aims to fix that with the new Unison app to deliver a “seamless multi-device experience enabling an open ecosystem” across iOS and Android operating systems.

Unison app to enhance users’ productivity by offering a seamless multi-device experience on Windows

Cross-platform support between PC and mobile phones enhances users’ productivity and saves time. When PC and mobile are connected, users can easily and quickly make calls, send and receive texts, transfer and edit files, and more directly from the computer without the hassle of constantly switching devices.

According to Intel, the Unison app will deliver a continuous and seamless connectivity experience between the PC and phone, iOS and Android. Through a simple pairing process, users will be able to carry out the following tasks:

  • Text message: Send and receive text messages from a PC.
  • Phone calls: Make and receive audio calls directly from a PC with access to the phone’s complete contacts list.
  • Phone notifications: Receive and manage phone notifications from a PC to avoid device-switching.
  • File transfer: Access the phone’s files on the PC to save time transferring files and photos between a PC and an iOS or Android device.

The company said that the Unison app would “continue to evolve with additional form factors, functionality, and operating systems in the future.”

At launch this year, the Unison app will available on select Intel Evo laptops based on 12th Gen Intel Core processors from Acer, HP, and Lenovo. In early 2023, the app will be available on the 13th Gen Intel Core Intel processor.

Michelle Johnston Holthaus, executive vice president and general manager of the Client Computing Group at Intel said:

“The 13th Gen Intel Core family is the latest example of how Intel is enabling amazing experiences to happen on the PC – at scale and across all PC product segments. Combine this with an industry-leading partner ecosystem and new solutions like Intel Unison, and together we are showing the world what’s truly possible with the PC experience going forward.”
