This update doesn’t bring major visual changes, but it focuses on refining existing features and building the foundation for future advancements. Here are the key new features and changes in iOS 17.4 beta 4:

Battery

  • Simplified Battery Health: The “Battery Health” section in the Settings now shows “Normal” instead of displaying the exact percentage. However, you can still tap for more details like maximum capacity and cycle count.
  • Clean Energy Charging Option: This option, which was previously in its separate section, is now moved under “Charging Optimization”.

CarPlay

  • CarPlay 2.0 (limited availability): For compatible vehicles (currently 2024+ Porsche and Aston Martin), CarPlay offers a new “instrument cluster experience” with upcoming maneuver information and the ability to switch display types.

Users will be able to swap the desired display type between the main and instrument cluster screen by tapping the map configuration button on the upper right of the Maps main screen

Other

  • Personalized Splash Screen: When you restart your iPhone, you’ll see a new personalized splash screen with your profile picture.17.4-beta-4-splash-screen

It’s important to note that iOS 17.4 beta 4 is still under development, so these features could change before the final release. Additionally, some features like the personalized splash screen and CarPlay 2.0 are limited in availability.
