iOS 27 gives iCloud+ users more Apple Intelligence access

Apple is adding a new benefit for iCloud+ subscribers in iOS 27. The company has confirmed that certain Apple Intelligence features will have daily usage limits, with paying iCloud+ users receiving higher allowances than users on free accounts.

iCloud+ Apple Intelligence

The change was announced as part of Apple’s next-generation Apple Intelligence platform unveiled at WWDC 2026. While most Apple Intelligence features remain free to use on supported devices, some advanced capabilities rely on Apple’s cloud infrastructure and will be subject to daily limits.

Apple specifically highlighted image generation as one of the features affected. According to the company, these tools depend on “powerful server models,” which require cloud processing rather than running entirely on-device.

To address the added computing costs, Apple says users subscribed to most iCloud+ plans will receive increased access. While the company has not shared exact limits, the wording suggests that subscribers will be able to generate more AI images and use other cloud-powered Apple Intelligence features more frequently than users on free accounts.

Apple’s announcement leaves one important question unanswered. The company specifically referred to “most iCloud+ subscription plans,” which suggests that the entry-level 50GB iCloud+ tier may not qualify for the expanded limits. Apple has not yet clarified which plans will be eligible or how much additional usage subscribers will receive.

Users subscribed through Apple One bundles are also expected to benefit from the higher Apple Intelligence limits. More details will likely emerge as Apple continues testing iOS 27 ahead of its public release later this year.

The update also brings new Home app benefits for iCloud+ subscribers. Apple says compatible HomeKit Secure Video cameras will gain Apple Intelligence support, allowing recordings to be processed using on-device intelligence and Private Cloud Compute for enhanced video descriptions and search capabilities.

The move marks one of the clearest examples yet of Apple tying premium AI capabilities to an existing subscription service. While Apple Intelligence remains free on compatible devices, iCloud+ subscribers will receive additional access to features that depend on Apple’s cloud infrastructure.

Apple has not announced the exact daily limits or when they will take effect, but the new system is expected to arrive alongside iOS 27 and the broader rollout of Apple’s upgraded Apple Intelligence experience later this year.
