iPhone 14 Pro schematics reveal larger camera bump, new notch, and thicker design

Last week, new 3D renders of the iPhone 14 Pro were leaked. The renders showed a few external changes instead of the huge complete redesign we were expecting this year. Now, Max Weinbach has shared new schematics of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max that show a hole punch + pill cutout in place of a notch and reveals the lineup’s dimensions.

As shared by Max Weinbach on Twitter, the tech giant’s new flagship lineup will get thicker and feature a more protruding camera bump on the back of both Pro models. The schematics also show the hole punch + pill cutout on the front of the device, in line with earlier reports.

According to the schematics, the ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max will measure 77.58 mm in width, slightly smaller than the iPhone 13 Pro Max at 78.1 mm. In terms of height, the ‌‌iPhone 14 Pro‌‌ Max will be nearly identical to the ‌iPhone 13 Pro‌ Max, measuring at 160.7 mm compared to 160.8 mm. In thickness, the iPhone 14 Pro Max will measure 7.85 mm, up from 7.65 mm compared to the iPhone 13 Pro Max. The size of the camera bump will also increase from the current width of 35.01 mm to 36.73 mm and height of 36.24 mm to 38.21 mm. The thickness of the camera bump measures 4.17 mm compared to the current 3.60 mm.

The ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ is nearly equivalent to the ‌iPhone 13 Pro‌ in width at just 71.45 mm compared to 71.5 mm. The ‌height of the iPhone 14 Pro‌ will also be virtually unchanged compared to the ‌iPhone 13 Pro‌, measuring 147.46 mm compared to 147.5 mm.

While the dimensions of the iPhone 14 Pro are similar to the iPhone 13 Pro, users will not be able to use iPhone 13 Pro cases on the new iPhone.

Apple is expected to unveil its latest flagship iPhone lineup this year with a new A16 Bionic chip exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max only. A new iPhone 14 Max is also expected in place of the mini. It has also been reported that iPhone 14 will feature a 48MP camera and 8K video capture and 8GB RAM, heavier titanium casing, and a 2TB storage variant.
