iPhone 15 Pro could feature display with 2,500-nit brightness

According to a trustworthy leaker, Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro line may receive a display that is much brighter than the display of the iPhone 14 Pro, maybe reaching 2,500 nits. The display panels for the iPhone will reportedly be provided by Samsung Display.

Samsung may provide Apple with displays for next year’s iPhone 15 Pro

The brightest display of any iPhone is found on the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, but Apple could make the display much brighter in the next-generation model. The iPhone 15 Pro might include a display panel update that reaches up to 2,500 nits of brightness.

In a new tweet, Apple leaker @ShrimpApplePro replied to a tweet from another leaker, @OreXda, that states “Samsung’s Next Gen Panel’s reach to 2500 nits.” The leaker went on to say “And still i donno it’s M13.” Samsung’s new Galaxy S23 features the M11 display. ShrimpApplePro replied to that tweet saying ” “Potentially will be on iPhone 15 Pro Max”.

For comparison, the maximum brightness of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max is typically 1,000 nits, increasing to 1,600 nits for HDR content and 2,000 nits for outdoor use.

Additionally, Samsung producing panels with high brightness levels is not unusual. For instance, it produces outdoor signage that operates at 2,500 nits or more, however, that is for a large screen rather than a small display. Uncertainty exists around whether this will lead to an even brighter iPhone display. The M13 display at the focus of the rumor has not yet been shown to function at that brightness, but it is still a tenable possibility.

As of right now, we do not know how credible this rumor is keeping in mind how big of a jump it would be for Apple’s displays to go from 1,600 nits to 2,500 nits. We will have to wait and see how many industry sources speak on this in the near future.
