Apple says demand for the iPhone Duo has been “nothing short of extraordinary” after its first foldable iPhone sold out within minutes of pre-orders opening on Friday, October 16. By 5:30 a.m. Pacific, the US online store was showing a January 25 delivery estimate for every configuration, which puts new orders in 2027.
Apple gave the statement to the Financial Times. The company also said it is working to get the iPhone Duo into customers’ hands as quickly as it can. The company has not shared how many units it had at launch or when supply will catch up.

The iPhone Duo Went From October 23 Delivery to January 25 in 30 Minutes
Customers who ordered the moment the store opened at 5 a.m. Pacific still got delivery on launch day, Friday, October 23. Within minutes, delivery estimates slipped into November, and half an hour after the store opened, every order was landing on January 25.
The January 25 date applied to every combination. That covers star white and night sky in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB, so choosing a bigger model no longer changes the wait.
Apple’s online store can no longer deliver an iPhone Duo in 2026. Anyone ordering from Apple now will not have one before Christmas.
Apple’s US prices for the four storage sizes are below:
- 256GB at $1,999
- 512GB at $2,199
- 1TB at $2,599
- 2TB at $3,199
Supply Was Reported to Be Tight Before Pre-Orders Opened
The sell-out follows weeks of reports about constrained supply. One supply chain report said Foxconn’s final assembly yield for the iPhone Duo was only slightly above 60 percent in mid-September, and that it could take six months to a year to reach a mature yield.
The same report put Apple’s 2026 stocking target at roughly six million to eight million iPhone Duo units. For comparison, a single iPhone Pro model or iPhone Pro Max model typically ships 20 million to 30 million units over a full product cycle.
Apple is also planning a big store showcase for the iPhone Duo even though stock is expected to stay limited.
Apple Has Not Said Whether Stores Will Have iPhone Duo Stock on October 23
Walk-in availability on launch day is still unconfirmed. Store pickup was briefly offered during pre-order and then switched off, and Apple’s site now tells customers to check back on Saturday, October 24. Best Buy also sells the iPhone Duo.
Resellers moved quickly. A 2TB night sky iPhone Duo, which Apple sells for $3,199, sold on eBay for $5,000. A confirmed pre-order for a 1TB night sky model sold for $4,400 against Apple’s $2,599 price.
