The jailbreak for iPod Touch OS 3.1.2 is finally here, and from none other than George Hotz who has been jailbreaking the iPhone since it was first launched. Called blackra1n, this Windows only jailbreak tool works for all iPhones ( 2G, 3G, and 3GS ) as well as iPod Touch 2G and 3G.
Warning 3G and 3GS unlockers, do not upgrade to 3.1.2 using iTunes if you want to keep your unlock. Baseband cannot be downgraded. Check out the dev team’s offerings. Also blackra1n doesn’t hacktivate.
Jailbreak your iPod Touch using blackra1n
- Upgrade to OS 3.1.2 via iTunes. It’s free if you were already using 3.0 on iPod Touch otherwise you’ll have to buy it.
- Once your iPod Touch has upgraded to 3.1.2, download blackra1n. Use Windows XP compatibility mode if you’re using Windows Vista or Windows 7.
- Launch the tool, and click the ‘make it ra1n’ button.
- It’ll take some time while your iPod Touch is jailbroken. You’ll see George’s picture, which means it’s working. After it’s down, it’ll restart.
- You should see the blackra1n icon in your apps now. Launch it.
- From here, you can install Cydia, which lets you install jailbreak applications. You can also try Rock or Icy.
- Congratulations, you have your iPod Touch 3.1.2 jailbreak up and running.
blackra1n isn’t available for OS X yet but expect it soon. If you have any questions, leave them in the comments below.
UPDATE: If your device doesn’t boot again, don’t panic. Just re-run blackra1n while the device is plugged in.

i jailbroke it with blackra1n anf its been showint the picture for hours
It doesnt work, I've tried everything.
My iPod touch screen goes dark after it says “your phone should be jailbroke after reboot”, but it never rebooted. It remained black and I had to restore it each time.
I have tried to run blackr4in again, but it will say “Waiting for phone” once i click on the button.
Please help, my version is 3g, 8gb, 3.1.2
I jailbroke my ipod touch 3g… But before i jailbroke i updated my iod to 3.1.2 fireware and i clicked “make it rain” i used windows xp… Everything went fine but on my ipod i went to blackra1n and downloaded cydia but icy wasn't there to download… And i didn't have winterboard so i downloaded it and i had to reboot and so i did… but then when i tried to see how much memory i had left to download apps it shut off on me… so i tried to reboot it and i had lines going from the top to the bottom of the screen… And i just don't know what i did wrong i follow all the steps… So my questions are (Was i suppose to restore my device to 3.1.2 fireware before jailbreaking)… (and why was it lines going from the top to the bottom of the screen on my device)… And if anyone can answer my questions and have some information that i should know you can email me at [{D_town_baller07@yahoo.com}]

My ipodtouch gets blackrain on it but now blackrain jsut stays in done, wait for reboot. if i unplug it i cvant turn it off bercause when i do it comes back on with the connecting to itunes logo. Any thoughts

every time i off my itouch and on it again, it keeps showing the usb and itunes symbol and i have to run blackra1n again. is there another way to do it?

I would like to know if this app will destroy or render my ipod useless if something gose wrong.
Will i be able to restore with Itunes if it gets messed up.
Or will it be permanent. :(

It took only 3 seconds to jailbreak
i got black ra1n and i installed winterboard to my ipod and reboted it now afer that i cant do anything i press the power buttion and then it shows the apple then takes a min then turns off is there a way to fix this if you know how plz contact me at big-mac-71@hotmail.com thanks
