Martha Stewart has joined the founding team behind Hint, a new AI-powered iPhone app designed to help homeowners stay on top of everything from routine maintenance to important documents. Instead of acting as another chatbot, Hint serves as a digital home assistant that organizes information about your house and helps you manage it over time.
The app launches today on iPhone as a free download with no ads or subscriptions. After entering your home address, Hint automatically builds a profile using publicly available information, including property records, local weather, soil conditions, utility data, and environmental insights. From there, you can upload documents like inspection reports, warranties, insurance policies, invoices, and contractor receipts to give the app a more complete understanding of your home.
What the Hint App Can Do
Hint is built around a conversational AI assistant that lets you ask questions about your home instead of searching through paperwork.
For example, you can ask when your HVAC system was last serviced, look up details in your homeowner’s insurance policy, review utility information, or find documents you’ve previously uploaded. The app can also explain maintenance recommendations and answer questions using information stored in your home profile.
Another key feature is appliance management. By uploading photos of major appliances, Hint can identify them and provide maintenance guidance tailored to each device. It can remind you when it’s time to replace a refrigerator water filter, clean condenser coils, flush a water heater, or complete other maintenance tasks that are easy to forget.
Hint also generates a personalized maintenance schedule based on your home’s systems, location, and environmental conditions. Rather than relying on generic reminders, the schedule adapts to your property and sends notifications when specific tasks need attention. You can also add your own reminders for repairs or seasonal projects, while a built-in Home Score provides a snapshot of how well you’re keeping up with maintenance.

One thing that sets Hint apart is Martha Stewart’s involvement. According to the company, she isn’t just lending her name to the project. Stewart is part of the founding team and regularly reviews the app’s recommendations, particularly those related to home care, gardening, and landscaping.
The company says she also provides feedback on the app’s design, branding, and language before new features are released.
