MoneyCoach has rebuilt its main screen for the iPhone Duo as a 3D leather wallet that opens with the hinge. Each card in the wallet is a real bank account, and the app connects to banks across the US and Europe.
The update is on the App Store ahead of the iPhone Duo going on sale Friday, October 23, alongside the first iPhone Duo launch apps. MoneyCoach’s maker, Perjan Duro, laid out the build in a design journal that covers the 19 days from first sketch to shipped app.
The Wallet Follows the Hinge From Closed to Flat
Open the phone and the leather cover moves with the hinge. The wallet is modeled as a real 3D object, so the pockets have depth, the edges look worn and the light finds the grain of the leather as you tilt the phone. Cards slide out of their pockets the way they do in your hand.
Duro says the first version looked right when the phone was flat and wrong when it was half open, so the fold was rebuilt from scratch. It now stays smooth at every angle, which suits a phone whose hinge Apple’s hardware chief calls the hardest problem to solve. Tap Continue and the wallet closes with some weight behind it.
Inside, the wallet has seven card pockets, a spot for a photo you can slide in like a polaroid, and a folded wad of cash drawn at true scale in seven denominations from 5 to 500. Your total sits on a card in the bottom pocket. Something waits for you the first time you open the wallet, and the maker is keeping that one secret.
The Atelier Sells 52 Products to Dress the Wallet
The wallet is customized through the Atelier, which sells leathers, foils, monograms and collections. A collection always costs less than buying its pieces, and a burgundy calf cover with a gold Rosette monogram is the free default.
Foil comes in ten finishes, and the metals (gold, palladium, rose gold, sapphire and bronze) glint as you tilt the phone while graphite, midnight and chestnut stay quiet and soft. Lacquer is glossy black on the grain only, and Tonal has no foil at all, so the letters show only as an impression in the leather.
Every Card Is a Real Bank Account With VoiceOver Support
The cards show live accounts because MoneyCoach connects securely to online banks in the US and Europe, and every card works with VoiceOver and the other accessibility settings. People who want a plainer view can switch to the Liquid Glass interface for budgets and everything else.
Underneath is the budgeting app that already runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro, with budgets, savings goals and a real-time net worth view. Duro cut several ideas along the way, including a crossfade between leathers that felt cheap and a frosted-glass header that looked busy next to the leather.
MoneyCoach is free to download with in-app purchases and requires iOS 18.6 or later.
