There is a change in Apple’s top leadership. Today, Phil Schiller has advanced to the position of Apple Fellow to lead the App Store and Apple Events. Recently, he was involved in the planning and management of the company’s first-ever WWDC 2020 online event. In this new role, Schiller will directly report to Tim Cook, CEO of the company.
Now, Greg (Joz) Joswiak has replaced Schiller as the new senior VP of Worldwide Marketing, who will be responsible for the following operations:
- Apple’s product management and product marketing
- Developer relations
- Market research
- Business management, as well as education
- International marketing
Joswiak has been a part of Apple for over 20 years and has a strong portfolio of launching many popular products like the iPod and iPhone as the former member of product marketing organization and VP of Worldwide Product Marketing for past four years.
Phil Schiller’s Contributions
Starting his career at Apple in 1987, @Phil Schiller worked diligently on the development and marketing of products for 30 years. As the senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, he successfully “lead the digital music revolution with iPod and iTunes, helped in creating the Mac, reinvent mobile phones with iPhone and the App Store, and define the future of mobile computing with iPad”.
Phil Schiller shared his sentiments on the decision,
“It has been a dream come true for me to work at Apple, on so many products I love, with all of these great friends — Steve, Tim, and so many more. I first started at Apple when I was 27, this year I turned 60 and it is time for some planned changes in my life. I’ll keep working here as long as they will have me, I bleed six colors, but I also want to make some time in the years ahead for my family, friends, and a few personal projects I care deeply about.”
The tech industry has congratulated both men; thanked Phil Schiller for his revolutionary contributions and expressed confidence in the Joswiak as the new senior VP of Worldwide Marketing.
This is a big deal for @Apple. I know both of these men well. @pschiller has been at the core of the entire Apple renaissance. And Greg Joswiak is a really smart, capable executive who has launched many historic products. Congrats to both! https://t.co/0gfGchFRjc
