Pixelmator Pro updated once more before the new year

Updated on Wednesday, Pixelmator Pro now allows users to export files to Motion format to create motion graphics more easily than ever making the suit more useful for video editors that use Final Cut Pro and Motion for creating titles and transitions.

The update also features a ton of SVG improvements. Users can now enjoy massively improved support for SVG files. Text support has been greatly improved, including support for path text, multiline text, text with multiple styles in spans, better whitespace handling, and more. Certain SVG filters and effects are now supported – gaussian blurs, drop shadows, and inner shadows, including SVG 2 drop shadows. In addition, the XML structure of SVG files exported from Pixelmator Pro has been improved to be more human-readable.

Based on tests, the company says it now offers 4 times better compatibility with their SVG target test suite. The Pixelmator Pro team will continue to improve support for SVGs as well as PSDs.

Pixelmator Pro’s last major update, codenamed Abracadabra ‘because it’s totally magic,’ added a ton of new features to the app including automatic background removal, automatic subject selection, and more. These new features are powered by a set of machine learning algorithms the Pixelmator team spent the last 12 months developing which makes them work more efficiently on the latest M1-powered Macs.

Version 2.3.4 is available as a free update for existing Pixelmator Pro users. New users can take advantage of a 50% discount off the app’s $39.99 price tag in the Mac App Store right now.
