Skype app updated for iPhone 4 with multitasking support

Exactly a month ago, we heard that Skype will get the background VOIP service support in iOS 4 soon. After waiting for its update for a month, Skype app for iPhone 4 has finally received been updated which brings the functionality of multitasking.

Run Skype in the background with multitasking in iOS4. Receive Skype calls and IM while other apps are running or when your iPhone is locked. You can also continue your call while you switch to another application. Multitasking is available only with iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.

Now you can receive calls and IM in the background while running other apps. Its strange that it only allows this on iPhone and not on iPod touch. Skype still does not have video chat support for iPhone 4 and it also does not support the iPad. Maybe we might see some other updates for Skype soon for iPad and iPhone 4 video chat as fring no longer offers Skype support.
