New “Snapchat for web” brings the app’s best calling and messaging features to the web

The social media company has introduced a new way “Snapchat for web” for its users to stay connected from anywhere and through any device. Snapchatters have to simply open web.snapchat.com on the Chrome browser and log in with their user name and password. And after a two-factor verification, they can start a call or resume a conversation that started on mobile.

Today, we’re introducing Snapchat for Web, a new way for our community to stay connected through our camera when they’re at their computers.

With more than 100 million Snapchatters using our voice and video calling each month on average, we’re excited to offer a new way for our community to keep conversations going on their computers, where they’re already working, learning, and browsing.*

Directly from their computers or laptops, users can now start a voice or video call with a single person or group of friends. When connected via a computer, users Bitmoji will appear with a laptop to inform their friends that they are connected through Snapchat for web.

Like the mobile app, messages sent on the web will disappear after 24 hours if not saved. Users can also send chat reactions and chat reply. As per the announcement, Lenses will be available soon on Snapchat for web, along with the app’s other core features.

However, the service is only available to Snapchat+ subscribers in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and to all Snapchat users in Australia and New Zealand. But, the company states that it will bring Snapchat for web to its “entire global community soon.”

Last month, the company launched Snapchat+, a $3.99 monthly subscription service that offers limited exclusive features like the ability to change the style of the app’s icon, view who rewatched their story and pin one friend to the top of the chat. The new paid tier is also available in select regions.
