Apple appears to be preparing Apple Intelligence for the next Apple TV. Code in the latest tvOS 27.2 beta references a new Apple Intelligence setting in the Settings app and a Siri Messages framework for showing message content on the TV.
MacRumors reported the references, which sit in the code of the tvOS 27.2 beta that Apple seeded to developers on October 5. Apple has not announced a new Apple TV or confirmed which Siri AI features will come to the platform.
The tvOS 27.2 Settings App Gets an Improved Siri & Apple Intelligence Option
The text in the code says the option lets Apple collect and use text and audio interactions with Siri, Dictation, and Translate. The stated purpose is to help improve foundation models and Siri.
Other Apple devices with Apple Intelligence carry similar privacy disclosures and data-sharing opt-ins. On devices that do not support Apple Intelligence, the setting is labeled Improve Siri & Dictation.
The new code sits next to the existing Siri data sharing code. That makes it likely that only Apple Intelligence-capable hardware will see the new label.
A Siri Messages Framework Could Put Texts and Smart Replies on the Apple TV
tvOS 27.2 also includes a new Siri Messages UI framework. It suggests message content could be displayed on the Apple TV in the future, with Siri reading messages sent to a linked iPhone and offering smart reply options.
The current version of Siri on the Apple TV does not support sending or reading messages. That makes the framework a probable tie-in with Siri AI, the new version of Siri that arrived with iOS 27.
Apple Is Reportedly Building an Apple TV With an A19 or A19 Pro Chip and Up to 12GB of RAM
Apple is working on a new Apple TV with more memory and a newer chip than the earlier Apple TV 4K leak described. The chip and memory details have shifted between reports.
- Earlier leak: A17 Pro or newer chip, 8GB of RAM
- Latest reporting: A19 or A19 Pro chip, 8GB or 12GB of RAM
That is hardware that could support Siri AI features on the device, and tvOS 27.2 appears to be the groundwork for it. The update follows tvOS 27, which is already out for Apple TV 4K with Hi-Res Lossless and a new Podcasts app.
The tvOS 27.2 cycle began on September 16, when Apple skipped tvOS 27.1, and Apple has not said what the update will add. The earlier betas were quiet point releases, which leaves this code as the main sign of what is coming to the Apple TV.
A new Apple TV could arrive as soon as October 13, the same day Apple is reportedly planning to launch its smart home hub and a new HomePod mini.
