Apple has seeded the seventh beta of visionOS 27 to developers, as it prepares to release the operating system to all Vision Pro users in September.
Siri AI Arrives With Spatial Context
Siri AI on visionOS 27 works fundamentally differently from its iOS and iPadOS counterparts. Users simply look at a new semi-translucent white orb positioned anywhere in their virtual market to begin a conversation; no “Hey Siri” required. The orb mimics the Siri aesthetic on other Apple platforms, with a circular thinking animation matching the experience on iPhone and Mac. Most Siri can interpret and answer questions about anything the wearer is actually looking at in real time through Visual Intelligence, identifying content and providing contextual information without requiring the user to describe what they see.
A new Siri app stores conversation history across all devices, displayed as a horizontally scrolling list of glassy cards similar to the Spatial Gallery interface. Users can pick up conversations started on iPhone or Mac directly on Vision Pro, or search past answers without leaving the device. Siri AI is expected to arrive as a beta feature later in 2026, initially supporting English only, though Vision Pro users in the European Union will have immediate access, a regulatory advantage unavailable to iPhone and iPad owners in that region.
Interface and Interaction Refinements
Beyond Siri, visionOS 27 refines how the Vision Pro presents information and lets users work. App windows now render with curved edges rather than flat planes, creating a more immersive workspace. Control Center has been reorganized to make system controls more discoverable, addressing feedback from early adopters.
Wi-Fi performance has received substantial attention. The Vision Pro now connects to supported networks up to three times faster than before, a tangible improvement given the device’s battery constraints and tendency toward deep sleep between uses. Boot time has dropped allowing users to put on the device and immediately access their favorite content rather than waiting through connection negotiation.
Panorama Environments and Developer Tools
visionOS 27 adds the ability to convert panorama photos into full spatial environments. A new Icelandic Thórsmörk environment showcases the capability with dramatic mountains, valleys, and glaciers. Developers gain access to Web Environment support, enabling the creation of 360-degree environments directly in Safari, expanding the toolset for third-party spatial content without requiring native app development.
The shift to weekly beta cycles indicates the software is approaching final release. visionOS 27 builds on Vision Pro’s foundation following the device’s M5 hardware revision last fall, with the feature set positioning this update as a significant step in making spatial computing feel less experimental and more intuitive for mainstream users.
