VMware Fusion 13 now available on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs

VMware Fusions 13 product line are now available on Intel-based and Apple Silicon Macs. The new Fusion 13 Pro and Fusion 13 Player allow Intel and Apple Silicon Macs to run Windows 11 through virtualization.

Earlier this year, the VMware Fusion 22H2 Tech Preview update was released to the public with support for Windows 11 on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs that included VMtools installation for Windows on Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, Windows 11 support with 2D GFX and networking, and much more.

VMware Fusion 13 brings new features to Windows 11 experience on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs

Here are the new features available on Intel and Apple Silicon Macs on VMware Fusion 13:

Apple Silicon Macs
- New Virtual Trusted Platform Module (2.0) provides virtual graphics and networking, 4K resolution. However, VMware Fusion 13 requires the Arm version of Windows 11, and the x86/Intel version of Windows is not supported.
- vTPM 2.0 + offers fast encryption with support for saving encrypted passwords in Mac’s Keychain or auto-generate a password.
- Comes with a universal DMG compatible with both Intel and Apple Silicon, which makes mass deployment easy and removes confusion about which is the right version to run.
- VMware Fusion 13 sports OpenGL 4.3 Linux VMs on Apple Silicon “with blazing fast 3D hardware acceleration to arm-based Linux virtual machines with Linux kernel 5.19 or greater.”

Intel-based Macs
- New Virtual Trusted Platform Module (2.0) provides Complete support for Windows 11 with Drag and Drop, Copy and Paste capabilities, shared folders, and USB and Camera device passthrough.
- Ships with universal DMG that makes mass deployment easy and removes confusion about which is the right version to run.
- vTPM 2.0 + offers fast encryption with support for saving encrypted passwords in Mac’s Keychain or auto-generate a password.
- VMware Fusion 13 sports OpenGL 4.3 in Windows and Linux VMs on Intel.
