Apple has released watchOS 27.2, and Siri AI on the Apple Watch is faster and now speaks French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. It is the first major update to watchOS 27.
The final build is 24S118, the same as the second release candidate. Open the Watch app on your iPhone, go to General, then Software Update, or use Settings on the watch itself. The Apple Watch has to be on its charger with more than 50 percent battery.
Siri AI recalls past conversations and draws on more sources
Siri AI can now remember what it told you before, so you can ask about the restaurants it recommended last week. It also pulls from more places when it answers, including photos attached in Messages, Calendar event attendees and your voicemails, and it gives better results from your iPhone’s Safari history and Reading List.
A new Excluded Apps setting lets you choose which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can access, all from one place on your iPhone. Siri AI is not available in the EU or mainland China.
The App Switcher returns with a press and hold gesture
watchOS 27 launched on September 14 with Siri AI and a Dynamic App Grid, and it removed the Digital Crown shortcut. The App Switcher went with it. watchOS 27.2 restored it with a different gesture.
Open any app, press and hold the bottom of the screen, then turn the Digital Crown to scroll through your recent apps. Swipe left on an app and tap the X to remove it.
watchOS 27.2 runs on the Apple Watch Series 9 and later
The update supports the Apple Watch Series 9 and later, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and later and the Apple Watch SE 3. The Apple Watch Series 8, the original Apple Watch Ultra and the Apple Watch SE (2nd generation) were dropped from watchOS 27 and stay on watchOS 26.
The redesigned Health app and its readiness score are not part of watchOS 27.2, since Apple pulled them from the iOS 27.2 beta. The previous update was watchOS 27.0.1 on September 28.
