Apple seeds watchOS 8.7 beta 3 to developers

Apple has released the watchOS 8.7 beta 3 to developers. The first beta was released just a day after watchOS 8.6 was released for Apple Watch Series 3 and later models. The update featured support for ECG app and irregular heart rhythm notifications in Mexico.

This will possibly be the last watchOS 8.x software update before WWDC 22 next month. Apple is excepted to announce watchOS 9 during the event, while the final version will be released this fall after extensive developer and public beta testing.

Installation

watchOS 8.7 is available for download by installing a beta profile from Apple Developer Center. Once the beta profile is downloaded to the Apple Watch via a connected iPhone, go to the Watch app > General > Software Update and wait for the new beta update to appear. Place your Apple Watch on its charger and make sure that it has at least 50% battery charge, before starting the update process.

It is important to note that this is a developer beta and could be buggy. Apple recently added functionality that allows users to restore Apple Watch, but it is still a risk that you should understand before installing a beta build on your Watch.
