Apple releases watchOS 8.6, tvOS 15.5 and HomePod software update 15.5

Apple has released watchOS 8.6, tvOS 15.5, and HomePod software update 15.5 to all users. watchOS 8.6 gains support for ECG and irregular heart rhythm notifications in Mexico, while tvOS 15.5 and HomePod software update 15.5 feature minor under-the-hood updates.

watchOS 8.6 does not have any major new changes. The only updates include support for the ECG app and irregular heart rhythm notifications in Mexico.

The next major Apple Watch updates are expected with watchOS 9, which is expected to be released for developers at WWDC 2022 in July.

To update, go to the Watch app on your iPhone and go to General > Software Update to download. Make sure that your Apple Watch has at least 50% battery charge and is placed on its charger throughout the update process.

tvOS 15.5

Apple has not shared any release notes for tvOS 15.5 update so far. It is likely a minor update that features general performance and stability improvements.

To update Apple TV, go to Settings > System > Software Updates and tap on Software Updates. When the update appears, select Download and Install, and let the process complete.

HomePod software update 15.5

Apple has not shared any release notes for HomePod software update 15.5 except for “general performance and stability improvements”.

To update your HomePod, open the Home app on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, which is already connected to your HomePod. Go to Home Settings > Software Update. Select your HomePod, and wait for the update to show up. Tap or click on the Update button and your HomePod will show a white spinning light when it starts updating. Once the light stops spinning, you will know that the update process is complete.
