Apple has released iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 software updates for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The software updates contain new changes for Wallet and Podcasts apps, alongside a few bug fixes. Before this final release to the general public, Apple released four beta updates and one release candidate to testers.

What’s new in iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5?

Even though there’s a major update to the version number, iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 are relatively minor software updates. The only changes included in this update are for the Wallet app, with support for allowing Apple Cash customers to send and request money, and a new Podcasts app setting that allows users to set a limit on the number of episodes that can be stored on an iPhone or iPad.

A minor bug fix is also available for home automation which would not trigger as expected.

Here are the complete iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 release notes from Apple:

iOS 15.5 includes the following improvements and bug fixes:

– Wallet now enables Apple Cash customers to send and request money from their Apple Cash card
– Apple Podcasts includes a new setting to limit episodes stored on your iPhone and automatically delete older ones
– Fixes an issue where home automations, triggered by people arriving or leaving, may fail

Some features may not be available for all regions or on all Apple devices. For information on the security content of Apple software updates, please visit this website:

If you’re looking to download the IPSW firmware files and clean install iOS 15.5 or iPadOS 15.5, you can download the iOS 15.5 IPSW files, and use Finder or iTunes to restore them to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. These firmware files are downloaded directly from Apple’s servers and can be used to either upgrade a device or restore it. This is only recommended for advanced users, as the over-the-air updates are sufficient for most users.
