Apple Music congratulates Kendrick Lamar on having “the most first-day album streams” for his new album

An American rapper, songwriter, and record producer, Kendrick Lamar released his new album “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” on Friday, May 13, 2022, and the album has become the “the most first-day album streams” on Apple Music of 2022 so far.

Now recognized as one of the most influential rappers of his time, Kendrick Lamar started his musical career as a teenager under the name “K.Dot” and released a mixtape Y.H.N.I.C. (Hub City Threat Minor of the Year), and later sang for an indie record label TDE.

In 2010, Lamar released his first song “Overly Dedicated”, and in 2021, he launched his first album “Section.80”. Following the fame and success of his music, he signed a deal with Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment. In 2017, he won Pulitzer Prize for his album “DAMN” and after five years, he released “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers”.

“Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” had the most first-day streams for an album on Apple Music

Kendrick Lamar aka K.Dot’s new album “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” includes production from William Pharrell and features Taylour Paige, Ghostface Killah, Kodak Black, and others as well as guest artists. Apple Music’s description of the album reads as follows:

The project is split into two parts, each comprising nine songs, all of which serve to illuminate Lamar’s continually evolving world view. Central to Lamar’s thesis is accountability. The MC has painstakingly itemized his shortcomings, assessing his relationships with money (“United in Grief”), white women (“Worldwide Steppers”), his father (“Father Time”), the limits of his loyalty (“Rich Spirit”), love in the context of heteronormative relationships (“We Cry Together”, “Purple Hearts”), motivation (“Count Me Out”), responsibility (“Crown”), gender (“Auntie Diaries”) and generational trauma (“Mother I Sober”). It’s a dense and heavy listen. But just as sure as Kendrick Lamar is human like the rest of us, he’s also a Pulitzer Prize winner, one of the most thoughtful MCs alive and someone whose honesty across “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” could help us understand why any of us are the way we are.

Apple Music supports Spatial Audio and Hi-Fi lossless audio which will deliver an immersive listening experience for Lamar’s fans to enjoy his new successful album “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers”.
