The popular messaging app, WhatsApp, is developing a new feature ‘Global voice message player’ so users can continue listening to audio messages in any part of the app. WABetainfo found that the new feature is under development in WhatsApp beta for iOS but says that the company will also introduce it on the Android version of the app.
Recently, the company released new features for disappearing messages on the app, along with a redesigned chat bubble. Users registered with the company’s beta program can now manage the duration of disappearing messages, enable the default message timer to start new chats with disappearing mode and new chat bubbles has a darker green color tone and more rounded shape.
Users will be able to listen to audio messages even after leaving chats on WhatsApp
The new “amazing” feature will allow users to continue listening to an audio file even after they have closed the chat thread it was sent on via the new ‘Global voice messages player’. The new player will be pinned on top of the app’s UI and will be accessible from any section of the app. Users will be able to play and pause the audio file from any section of the app at any time.
According to the screenshot shared by WABetainfo, the player will appear on top of the edit or compose new message options. It will be highlighted with a different color and will feature a play button and an ‘x’ icon to close the message when done. However, the publisher points out that the feature is currently under development and its appearance may vary in the final pubic version.
After getting ‘speed playback’ options, the new global voice messages players will be a good addition to the app for it will give users the freedom to do more while listening to an audio message or a song.
This feature is very useful when you receive a voice message having a long duration. In this case, you can continue sending messages to other contacts when you are listening to the voice message.
