WhatsApp Is Redesigning the Settings Tab on iPhone to Cut the Clutter

WhatsApp is testing a simpler Settings tab on iPhone. The You tab would keep the options people open most often, and the rest of the settings would move into a separate menu behind a gear icon.

WABetaInfo spotted the new layout in WhatsApp beta for iOS 26.40.10.21 on TestFlight. The feature is still under development, so testers cannot turn it on yet, and WhatsApp has not shared a release date.

The You Tab Turns Into a Profile Page With Six Shortcuts

The top of the screen keeps the account name, profile photo, and phone number. You can edit your profile and share it from there. Below that, WhatsApp lists Subscriptions, Lists, Broadcast messages, Events, Starred, and Linked devices.

Those are the options WhatsApp considers most useful. A gear icon in the navigation bar leads to everything else, which makes the tab feel more like a profile page than a settings menu.

Adding a second account also starts from this screen. Tapping the account name at the top opens the flow, and the account switcher still appears from the You tab.

The Gear Icon Opens a Searchable Menu With Everything Else

Tapping the gear opens a separate settings menu. It holds the sections that used to fill the main list.

  • Account
  • Privacy
  • Chats
  • Appearance
  • Notifications
  • Agents
  • Storage and data
  • Parental controls

Help, Send feedback, and Invite a friend sit below those sections. Accounts Center is at the bottom of the menu, and it lets you connect your WhatsApp account to your other Meta accounts. A search bar at the top lets you jump to a setting without scrolling through the list.

WhatsApp Has Piled Too Much Into Settings Over the Past Year

The page has grown with almost every recent feature. WhatsApp added a hub for creating and managing events, then third-party agent chats, and more recently parental controls for teens. Each one got its own row, and the list got harder to scan.

Anyone who only wants to check their Starred messages or Linked devices has to scroll past all of it. The new layout keeps the settings people use often on the You tab and moves the rarely opened ones behind the gear icon.

WhatsApp has been reworking other parts of the iPhone app too, including a new chat navigation button with quick shortcuts and a Liquid Glass video player. The Settings change follows the same idea of fewer taps to reach what you use.

WhatsApp has not announced when the simplified Settings page will reach the public version of the app on iPhone.
