Vision Pro to gain immersive meetings with the release of Zoom on February 2

At the heart of Zoom’s Vision Pro integration is support for Apple’s Persona technology, allowing users to create astonishingly realistic digital avatars. These avatars, based on facial scans, enable meeting participants to witness the nuances of real-time facial expressions and hand movements, transcending the limitations of traditional video conferencing. Complementing this, the Spatial Zoom Experience empowers users to tailor the virtual meeting environment to their liking, replicating the spontaneity and dynamism of face-to-face interactions without the need for additional hardware.

“Zoom on Apple Vision Pro helps teammates stay connected no matter when and where they work, or how they communicate and collaborate,” said Smita Hashim, chief product officer at Zoom. “The integration of Zoom on Apple Vision Pro and visionOS extends our platform promise of allowing participants the ultimate meeting experience from anywhere and delivers on our commitment of seamless collaboration and communication.”

Looking beyond the launch, the company has ambitious plans for enhancing the Vision Pro app. The much-anticipated 3D Object Sharing, scheduled for release later this spring, promises a transformative experience for industries such as media and design. This feature will enable collaborative work on intricate 3D models, bringing a new dimension to creative projects. Additionally, Zoom Team Chat integration is in the pipeline, offering seamless communication directly within the app, thereby fostering a unified platform for collaboration.

The Vision Pro app is also set to introduce Real-world Pinning, a feature that allows users to pin up to five meeting participants in their physical space. This feature, combined with the option to remove backgrounds, aims to provide a level of immersion that bridges the gap between virtual and real-world interactions.

Zoom for Vision Pro will be available to download on February 2.
